Putting the Garden to Bed

Our final crop was harvested- 71/2 pounds of parsnips! Stalks, signs and tomato cages have been put away. The garden will take a well-deserved rest! Happy Thanksgiving!

Carrot Time!

Ms. Seymour's students harvested 16 pounds of carrots this week! Add that to Mrs. Page-Redmann's class, and we harvested almost 30 pounds!

It's always fun to see the children's faces as they harvest. There are always surprising sizes and shapes.

Garden Parade

The students at YES started the last day of summer with a garden promenade. High School students from the Green Voices Club, led by our garden helper Lilly Kuhn, got dressed up and handed out stickers and garden-made pickles. It was a beautiful way to begin the day!

Welcome Back!

Welcome back to school! The garden is bursting with produce. There are birds and insects buzzing about! There's lots of nutritious food waiting to be harvested and eaten.

Thanks to all who helped out during the summer. We are especially grateful to our high school garden helper, Lilly Kuhn!

Seedlings

All of our seeds have germinated. What looks minimal now will be bursting with life with the warm sun, lots of water and careful weeding. The sunflower seeds sown by the whole school in June are about a foot tall. They will be glorious in September!

Beautiful Lettuce

This gorgeous lettuce that was planted by fourth graders in the spring was harvested and donated to the Preble Street Soup Kitchen.
